A welcoming
community, just as you are.
For more than 170 years, St. James’ has been a place of faith, welcome, and service at the heart of Long Branch.
Welcome, friend.
Dear friends, whoever you are and wherever you find yourself on the journey of faith, you are welcome here at St. James’. Whether you have worshiped in the Episcopal tradition all your life, or you are stepping into a church for the very first time, there is a place for you among us.
For more than 170 years, this parish has been a home of worship, welcome, and service in Long Branch. We are a community that believes the love of Christ is for everyone, and that the door of the church should always be open. Come as you are. Bring your questions, your hopes, and your weariness, and find here a place of rest and belonging.
It would be my joy to welcome you in person. Until then, may you know that you are held in prayer, and that there is always a seat saved for you at St. James’.

St. James’ Episcopal Church has been a cherished part of Long Branch for more than 170 years, standing as a place of faith, welcome, and service through generations of community life. From its beginning in 1854, this parish has gathered people together to worship, to serve, and to belong.
What makes St. James’ special is its open-hearted spirit — bringing people together across backgrounds, needs, and traditions.
We are an Episcopal parish in the Diocese of New Jersey, part of the wider Anglican Communion. But you do not need to be Episcopalian — or to have any church background at all — to find a home here. We gather across every age and background: lifelong members and first-time visitors, families and individuals, neighbors of every walk of life.
Today, St. James’ is a vibrant interfaith hub. We open our doors to people of all backgrounds, hosting Episcopal, non-denominational, and diverse faith communities, and offering a sacred place where everyone can gather, grow, and worship together.
At St. James’ Episcopal Church, we are a Christ-centered, come-as-you-are community where all are truly welcome. We are committed to creating a warm, inclusive space for shared worship, meaningful connection, and spiritual growth.
Rooted in the love of Christ.
Come As You Are
Everyone is welcome here, exactly as they are. No background, no dress code, no prerequisites — just an open door and an open heart.
Worship & Sacrament
We gather in the Episcopal tradition, with worship that engages the mind, the soul, and the heart — reverent, beautiful, and alive.
A Sacred Common Ground
As an interfaith hub, we host and welcome diverse faith communities, offering a shared sacred space where all may worship together.
Service to Neighbor
Through our thrift shop, community partnerships, and acts of welcome, we serve our neighbors with compassion and dignity. Faith made practical.
Fellowship & Belonging
We build relationships that last. Through gatherings, meals, and shared milestones, strangers become friends and friends become family.
Hope & Healing
We strive to be a source of hope, healing, and practical support — for our members, our partners, and the wider Long Branch community.
Clergy & Leadership
St. James’ is led by dedicated clergy and a faithful lay leadership who guide the life, worship, and stewardship of the parish.
The senior warden is the lead layperson of the parish, acting as a close advisor to the rector and providing leadership for the congregation, especially during clergy transitions.
Elected by the Vestry, the junior warden focuses on the practical oversight of church property and buildings.
Oversees the financial reporting of the parish.
Handles the recording and keeping of Vestry meeting minutes.
We’d love to meet you.
Whether you’re exploring faith for the first time or looking for a church home, there’s a place for you at St. James’.
