Our ministries.

From feeding our neighbors to gathering in fellowship, our ministries are the everyday hands of St. James’ in the world.

Faith in Action

Serving our community.

St. James’ is more than a building. We are a community of people working together to feed the hungry, clothe the needy, welcome the stranger, and walk alongside our neighbors through every season of life.

Liturgical Ministries

The ministries of worship.

Each Sunday, the worship at St. James’ is shaped by the gifts of many people serving quietly and faithfully. These ministries are the hands and voices that make our worship together possible.

Altar Guild

A crucial part of our worship together, the Altar Guild prepares the Altar for all the liturgies of the parish, maintains the vessels and special linens, and works with the Flower Guild in adorning the church for Sundays, holy days, and seasonal celebrations. Teams serve on a rotation, generally about once a month. Men and women of the parish are warmly invited to participate.

St. Mary’s Flower Guild

Flowers may be placed on the Altar in loving memory or thanksgiving for a birthday, an anniversary, a graduation, a baby’s birth, or any other occasion. The Flower Guild arranges flowers at the Altar and throughout the church for Sunday Masses and during the seasons of Easter and Christmas. During Lent and Advent, flowers are omitted; a Sanctuary Lamp may be offered in their place.

Servers at the Altar

Servers assist the clergy in offering a beautiful service of worship. Individuals serve as Thurifers, Chalice Bearers, and Crucifers, leading the procession and supporting the liturgy from the chancel.

Lectors

Lectors read the assigned lessons from Holy Scripture at each service. Our Lectors are dedicated and dependable participants in the worship life of our parish.

Ushers & Greeters

Ushers and Greeters work on a rotation, welcoming people into the church, handing out bulletins, assisting with the flow of communion, and answering visitors’ questions. Men, women, and young adults are invited to participate.

Music Ministry

Led by our Director of Music, the music ministry enriches worship through the great hymns, psalms, and songs of the Anglican tradition. Visit our Music page →
